The Calgary Flames have recalled forward Erik Johnson from the Calgary Hitmen of the American Hockey League (AHL) and placed him on injured reserve, it was announced today by general manager Brad Treliving.

Johnson, 24, was selected by the Flames in the third round (No. 64 overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

The 6-foot-2, 196-pound forward has played in nine games with the Hitmen this season, recording five points (1-3=5) with two penalty minutes and two blocked shots.

The Calgary native was originally drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks with the No. 24 pick in the 2011 NHL Entry draft.
